Oakdale Farms Last Winter Market Special: “We will be selling our free range eggs for $5 dozen or $8 for two dozen.”
Samira’s Homemade will be bringing hand-chopped fresh tabouli salad. YUM!
Spindler Confections will have a fresh batch of spring Pate de Fruits and also will be offering a new product – “Penuche”! It’s a rich and creamy brown sugar fudge.
Fior D’Italia will continue their 3 for $12 Special: Three pastas or two pastas and a sauce.
Dove’s & Figs: “We will be introducing (for the first time at any market) our special vintage recipe Aunt Jenny’s Jam. A portion of the sales of this jam will help support Parkinson’s research. You can read the story about it here: Aunt Jenny’s Jams Article.
Plus we will have lots of year-round and early Spring seasonal flavors of jams, chutneys, and fruit mustards.”
And, from The Popover Lady: “We will have regular popover flavors, and a special popover of the day: chocolate covered! We will also have our small pies and bread, as well as a gluten-free option.”

Don’t miss our last market date of the Winter season! The Melrose/Wakefield Monthly Winter Farmers Market will hold its final market day on Sunday April 19, 2015 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 590 Main Street in Melrose.
We are going to vary the music this month, with local fiddler Cathy Mason teaming up with Sarah Nelson to play as The High Strung Strummers from 2-4:00. In keeping with the old timey background music feel, they will play a variety of melodies including old-time dance music and ballads from the Appalachia region.
We will continue providing “café seating” on the stage where you can take a break from shopping and enjoy a tasty beverage or baked treat from Pour Man’s Coffee, a sweet from Spindler’s Confections, a bite of Ethiopian food, or a cup of delicious clam chowder from Roberto’s Seafood.
Back Again! Local artist Anita Roy Dobbs will be back again to draw pencil sketch portraits – for free! Just take a seat or seat your child, spouse or friend in the “subject chair” and, in 5-10 minutes, you’ll have a lovely sketch to take home and frame. This is popular, so you might have to take a number and wait your turn. Look for Anita on the 2nd level.
Holly Pierce will be cooking up in the second floor level presenting one of her tasty and informative cooking demonstration using produce and food items that she selects from the vendors that morning. Special features include in depth coverage of Miss Holly’s cooking demo and an interview with our banjo duo Don Borchelt and Ed Britt. Don and Ed will not be with us in April, but you can catch them at the Wakefield and Melrose markets during the summer market season.
We will have most of our farmers and vendors on hand with the farmers bringing lots of fresh spring greens their roots cellar vegetables, perhaps some potted herbs, fine meats, poultry and eggs, as well as lovely cheeses. Shoppers will also be able to purchase fresh fish and locally produced hard cider, dips, spreads, sweet and savory preserves, baked goods, seasoning mixes, teas, cheesecake, hand crafted candy, root and ginger beers, soaps, candles, and other handmade crafts.

Along with credit and debit cards via our Market Bucks system, the Winter Market also welcomes SNAP/EBT transactions in exchange for Market Bucks. The Winter Market will match SNAP/EBT purchases up to $5 per visit so all of our neighbors can afford to eat healthy local foods. Just stop by the Market Manager Table.
