Seven Seasons, Countless Memories — Thank You, Wakefield

Dear Wakefield Community,

With the close of the 2025 market season, I’ve been reflecting on a journey that began in June of 2019, one that has been far richer and more meaningful than I ever could have imagined. After much thought, I am writing to share that I will be stepping away from my role as Market Manager of the Wakefield Farmers Market on February 8, 2026.

What began as a job quickly became a calling. Together, we built more than a weekly market. We nurtured a gathering place. A place where farmers, food producers, artisans, musicians, neighbors, families, and friends came together not just to shop, but to connect. Through sunshine, sudden rainstorms, a global pandemic, and joyful celebrations, the Wakefield Farmers Market remained a constant: a reminder of the strength and resilience of community.

Since 2019, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary local farmers and producers who truly make it, bake it, or grow it, and who pour their passion into feeding and serving this region. I’ve watched small food businesses test their first ideas, grow loyal followings, and become local staples. I’ve seen children grow up at the market, returning year after year with familiar smiles and favorite snacks in hand.

I am deeply grateful to our vendors, musicians, volunteers, sponsors, town partners, and community organizations who helped the market thrive. Your trust, flexibility, and commitment, especially during challenging times, made it possible for the Wakefield Farmers Market to continue serving our town with integrity and heart.

Most of all, thank you to the Wakefield community. Your support of local food, small businesses, and community is what gives this market its soul. Every conversation, every reusable bag, every “see you next week” mattered more than you know.

I’m also excited to share that Laura Imhoff, our current Assistant Market Manager, will be stepping into the role of Market Manager. Laura brings creativity, energy, and a real talent for connecting with the community, especially through social media. While she’s continuing to gain experience with some aspects of running the market, I’m confident her dedication and enthusiasm will help the Wakefield Farmers Market thrive for years to come.

As for what’s next: I’m grateful to continue my work in the community as the Event and Administrative Coordinator at Greenbelt Essex County Land Trust, supporting land conservation and public engagement across the region. And while I’ll no longer be spending my summer Saturday mornings behind the scenes at the market, I look forward to enjoying them as a neighbor, wandering the tents, supporting local vendors, and saying hello from the other side of the table.

While my chapter as Market Manager is coming to a close, my belief in the Wakefield Farmers Market and in this community remains strong. I’ll always be one of its biggest supporters.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of something so special.

With gratitude and appreciation,

AnnMarie Gallivan
