A Community That Shows Up
At the Wakefield Farmers Market, we are more than just a place to shop: we are a community.
We believe deeply in supporting local businesses, and not just the businesses themselves, but the people behind them. The families, the stories, and the hard work that go into showing up week after week.
Now more than ever, community matters. Small business owners carry so much, building something from the ground up while supporting themselves, their teams, and their customers. And sometimes, life throws unexpected challenges that no one can prepare for.

Supporting The Bread Shop
This past week, one of our beloved vendors, The Bread Shop, experienced a devastating fire in their bake shop due to an electrical issue.
The damage destroyed essential supplies, ingredients, and equipment—bringing daily operations to a sudden halt. For a small business, this kind of loss is incredibly difficult.
If you’ve visited the market, you likely recognize The Bread Shop by the lines that form early, for their fresh baguettes, focaccia, and artisan breads.
The Heart Behind The Bread Shop
Behind the table is owner and head baker Lauren Donati, who has spent the past 10 years building The Bread Shop into a staple on the North Shore.
Lauren discovered her love for baking at just 10 years old and went on to train at Johnson & Wales University, and Clear Flour Bread. Her passion for quality and craft is evident in every loaf.
The Bread Shop is rooted in a mission to create whole grain artisan breads using natural, local ingredients, while fostering meaningful connections with local farms and fellow small businesses.
Over the years, Lauren has built more than a business—she has built a community.
How You Can Help
In the wake of this devastating event, Lauren’s sister has organized a GoFundMe to help The Bread Shop rebuild.
If you’re able to contribute, your support will make a meaningful difference. And if you’re not in a position to donate, there are still ways to help:
Standing Together
At the Wakefield Farmers Market, we support The Bread Shop and the people who make it what it is. We know the road ahead won’t be easy, but we also know the strength of this community.
And together, we will help them rise again.
