From Winter to Market Season: Looking Ahead to Spring

It’s February. It’s cold. There’s snow on the ground, more on the way — and it’s hard to believe that in just a few short months, Hall Park will be filled with green grass, blue skies, and a bustling farmers market full of fresh food, baked goods, coffee, artisans, cute pups, and so much more.

This winter has felt longer and colder than most, so it’s safe to say we’re all looking forward to spring. Along with warmer weather comes the excitement of planning and preparing for another amazing market season.

Before I properly introduce myself, I want to take a moment to recognize AnnMarie and the incredible foundation she built during her seven seasons with the market. Her dedication to our vendors, our community, and the spirit of the market has been truly meaningful. I had the pleasure of meeting AnnMarie when I was a vendor in 2023/2024, and it was an honor to work alongside her during the 2025 season. It’s a privilege to carry forward everything she worked so hard to create. If you haven’t yet read her beautiful reflection on her time at the market, I highly recommend it.

One thing I truly believe in is community.

The market isn’t just a place for vendors — it’s for neighbors, families, and friends. It’s a gathering place, a food hub, and a space where connections happen naturally. You can see it every Saturday morning: strangers chatting under vendor tents, families dancing in front of the musicians, old friends bumping into each other over coffee and cookies, and pups proudly parading past Emmett’s Edibles.

Always plenty of pups at market.
Always plenty of pups at market.

I’m so excited to help nurture this space and continue building on the heart of the Wakefield Farmers Market alongside our talented vendors, musicians, and nonprofit partners. As we prepare for the 2026 season kickoff on June 13, you can expect to hear more about our vendors, behind-the-scenes planning, and all the magic that goes into market day.

Thank you for your continued support of the market and our community. I can’t wait to see you this season.

Warmly,

Laura Imhoff
