Late Summer Saturdays, Family Fun & Community

First, we want to start with a big thank you to everyone who came out and spent Saturday morning with us despite the heat and humidity! Summer in New England certainly keeps us on our toes, and we’re always grateful to see so many of you choosing to spend part of your weekend supporting our farmers, food producers, artisans, and small businesses.

As we head into the last few weeks of summer vacation, things tend to slow down just a little at farmers markets. Families are squeezing in those last-minute vacations, weekends are busy, and everyone is trying to soak up what’s left of summer.

But that also makes this one of the BEST times to visit the Wakefield Farmers Market.

If you haven’t made it to the market yet this season—or you’ve found some of our busier Saturdays a little overwhelming—come see us now! You’ll still find a full market overflowing with farm-fresh summer produce, handmade small-batch foods, artisan goods, and plenty to eat while you shop.

Celebrating National Nonprofit Day

This weekend, we’re also getting an early start on celebrating National Nonprofit Day, which takes place on August 17.

We’re excited to welcome the Boys & Girls Club of Metro North to the market in conjunction with INspire Café.

INspire Café is an inclusive community café and nonprofit initiative operated in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Metro North. In addition to serving coffee, breakfast, and lunch, the café creates empowering, barrier-free employment opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities.

This is one of our favorite things about the farmers market: it isn’t just a place to shop. It’s a place to connect.

It’s a place to learn about the organizations doing important work around us, meet the people behind our local businesses, and support the community we all share.

Be sure to stop by, say hello, learn more about the Boys & Girls Club, and grab yourself a coffee from INspire Café while you’re here!

Bring the Kids!

Not heading out on one last summer getaway? Bring the family to the market because we have plenty happening for our younger market-goers this Saturday. For the first time this season, we’ll have children’s yoga under the trees!

Let the kiddos stretch, move, and get some of that weekend energy out. If yoga isn’t their thing, there’s always dancing by the music tent!

We’ll also have face painting, balloons, music, plenty to explore around the market, and fresh juice from Beraka Juice to help everyone rehydrate after all that activity.

Let them move, dance, play, and explore while you stock up for the week. Because a farmers market can be grocery shopping AND your Saturday morning adventure.

Welcome My Country Mushroom!

While you’re making your way around the market, be sure to give a warm Wakefield welcome to one of our newest additions: My Country Mushroom!

Stop by their tent to check out their beautiful, locally grown mushrooms and bring some home for dinner. Pair them with fresh produce and other locally made ingredients from around the market, and Saturday’s shopping can quickly turn into this week’s meals.

And that’s what summer market season is all about.

Come hungry, bring your market bag, bring the kiddos, and spend your Saturday morning with us.
