September is one of the most abundant times of the year in the farming world—it’s truly peak harvest season. Summer produce is still rolling in at full speed, while fall crops are beginning to make their debut. Farmers’ booths are overflowing with zucchini, eggplant, peppers, onions, and late-summer fruits like peaches, plums, and nectarines. Corn and apples are stacked high, ready to usher in the changing season. But the real star of the market this time of year? Tomatoes!

There’s nothing quite like a sun-kissed, vine-ripened tomato. Vibrant and bursting with flavor—sweet, tangy, and perfectly juicy all in one bite. From classic field tomatoes to colorful heirlooms to bite-sized cherry varieties, our local farms bring an incredible selection to the market.
This Saturday, September 6th, we’re celebrating the taste of summer with our Annual Tomato Festival! Stock up on fresh tomatoes for all your favorite recipes: simmer them into a rich sauce, pile them high on bruschetta, layer them with basil and mozzarella for the perfect sandwich, or snack on Sungolds like nature’s candy.

But the fun doesn’t stop at the farm booths. Throughout the market, vendors will be offering special tomato-inspired products—perhaps you’ll discover a unique tomato jam, a creamy tomato spread, or even a fresh tomato sandwich. Plus, you’ll find plenty of complementary treats to pair with your tomatoes, like handmade pasta from L’amore Della Pasta and other local favorites.
So grab your market tote, bring your appetite, and join us for a day filled with flavor, community, and celebration. Let’s savor the season together at the Wakefield Farmers Market Annual Tomato Festival! We’ll see you this Saturday and every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM at Hall Park (468 North Avenue, Wakefield, MA), through October 25.
Be sure to stay connected through our website and social media channels for updates, vendor spotlights, and weekly entertainment lineups.
Thank you for supporting local — we’ll see you at the market!
