We’re incredibly excited—and deeply grateful—to share that the Wakefield Food Pantry has donated another $10,000 to the Wakefield Farmers Market in support of our SNAP Match Program.
This partnership is something truly special and something many people don’t always see. What makes this relationship so impactful is how we come together to better serve our community.
Who Is the Wakefield Food Pantry?
The Wakefield Food Pantry provides food, household essentials, and support to those in need—always with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Each year, they serve around 600 families (about 1,000 individuals) in our community. Their work is constant and largely behind the scenes. Every week, thousands of pounds of food are transported from the Greater Boston Food Bank to Wakefield. Through careful sourcing and strong partnerships, they’re able to stretch every dollar, supplement supplies when needed, and ensure shelves are stocked and ready.
Just as importantly, they create a welcoming space where guests feel supported as they access the food and essentials they need.
Why This Matters
Food insecurity—defined as not having consistent access to enough food—is at a record high in Massachusetts. More than 40% of households are currently affected, with numbers having doubled since 2024.
This is happening here, in our own community.
How the SNAP Match Program Helps
At the Wakefield Farmers Market, we believe everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy food.
We accept SNAP/EBT at the Market Manager tent and match purchases up to $15 per visit. This allows shoppers to bring home more fresh foods like produce, meat, eggs, and fish.
With the Food Pantry’s $10,000 contribution, we’re able to expand this impact—helping put even more fresh, nutrient-dense food on local tables.
A True Community Effort
This work is only possible because of partnerships like this one.
The Wakefield Food Pantry’s support doesn’t just sustain the market—it directly impacts the health and well-being of our neighbors, while also supporting local farmers and strengthening our community.
